There may be two Captain Kirks but there still is only one Captain Picard. Today is Patrick Stewart’s 69th Birthday. Although he has handed in his space suit to return to his home in the theater, Star Trek fans still remember the leader of The Next Generation on TV and film. See below for the latest on Patrick.
His signature face-palm plus his catch phrases “Make it so” and “Engage” have become a part of our culture. Sir Patrick went on to play Picard in four movies before the Abrams reset of the series.
He played Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movie series including a cameo in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
An accomplished Shakespearean actor, Stewart received critical acclaim as Macbeth, and recently played Claudius in Hamlet starring none other than David Tennant as the title character. Captain Picard and Doctor Who on the same stage: there’s an unstoppable team!
