Prince Harry put his naked pool party scandal behind him today to touch down in war-torn Helmand Province as a front-line top gun.
The royal fighter ace is set to be flying deadly missions in his £46million Apache attack helicopter over Afghanistan’s most violent region within 10 days.
Harry, 27, is desperate to get stuck into his second deployment to the warzone after his Vegas strip billiards photo shame was beamed round the world.
Giving a confident thumbs-up to comrades in the sweltering heat today, the third in line to the throne began priming his 161mph craft ahead of combat operations against the Taliban.
The Army Air Corps Captain was spotted chatting with a colleague following his long flight on an RAF Tri-Star plane from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.
As one of two Apache crew, the Co-pilot Gunner – who sits at the front – commands the mission, fires its Hellfire missiles, navigates and sometimes steers.
It is Harry’s first operational mission using the gunship and will last four months.
The tour follows the most intensive military flying training in the world including months of advanced weapons training in California and Arizona.
