Insecurity: 802 Corp Members Redeploy from Plateau

Following the state of insecurity in Plateau State, 802 out of the 1, 750 corps members posted to the state have been granted permission to redeploy from the state.

Speaking Monday at the formal closing ceremony of the 2012 Batch ‘B’ orientation camp held at the state's temporary orientation camp, at Zang Commercial College, Bukuru, the State Coordinator, Mr. Maram Maful disclosed that the 802 included married women, pregnant and nursing mothers, those with ailment and those who applied for redeployment but later submitted letters to withdraw their redeployment applications.

The State Coordinator added that the request would be forwarded to the headquarters and urged those who would stay back to desist from joining local politics but to participate actively in individual and group projects which would leave their host communities better than they would meet it.
Maful further stated no corps member would be posted to crises-prone areas except if the spouse of a married corps member is in such areas.

Meanwhile, the State governor, Jonah Jang represented by the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Lohfa Bako assured the corps members that would stay back of government’s preparedness in conjunction with the military Special Task Force (STF) and other security agencies to ensure the safety of their lives and property throughout their service year is not taken for granted.
I learnt about 30 out of the 802 that had earlier asked for redeployment have applied to withdraw their redeployment applications, saying they want to stay back in the state.
