BANGALORE: A 24-year-old divorcee, who was eight months pregnant,
poisoned her 3-year-old son and aged mother to death before committing
suicide in Byadarahalli near Ramanagaram, about 30km from Bangalore,
late Friday night.
Gangamma Hanumantaraya poisoned her son H Ranjan and mother Kodi Lakkamma, 45, a widow, and consumed the same in their house.
Earlier
on Friday, Gangamma's family, including uncle Gangadharappa, had asked
Eesha, a man who lived in the neighbourhood, marry Gangamma as they were
having an affair. Police booked Eesha for abetment for suicide and are
looking for him.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning
when a neighbour entered Lakkamma's house. "The door was wide pen. When
the neighbour entered the house, he saw all three of them lying in the
hall. The trio had died in the wee hours," Byadarahalli police said.
Daily
wage worker Hanumantharayappa and Gangamma married five years ago but
he divorced her after he married another woman early 2011. "Since then,
Gangamma lived with her mother. The young woman told her mother she was
pregnant with Eesha's child. On Friday, their families decided he should
marry her," police said.
"We don't know what happened after
that. Gangamma left behind a suicide note saying no one was responsible
for her death and the killing. She also apologized to Eesha," police
added.
