Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka could be sold by Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua over a shareholder row. The Ivory Coast international departed Chelsea a legend after he scored the equaliser and hit the winning penalty in the shootout against Bayern Munich in May’s Champions League final. In addition to his Bavarian heroics, Drogba scored in four FA Cup finals – scoring the winner on three occasions – and also struck in two League Cup finals for the club – netting the winner against Arsenal in 2007.

He and Anelka both earn in excess of £190,000 a week  (Wtf!) right now in the Far East but all that could be taken away from them. Speculations are rife as to whether Drogba and Anelka, his teammate are regretful of their move east and could be thinking of leaving their new club since the management started facing difficulty paying the players fees. Drogba has scored eight goals in 10 appearances since his shock move to China.

Chinese media have reported that Shenhua’s chief investor Zhu Jun has threatened to withhold salaries of players unless he is granted majority control of the club. It was not clear whether the threat was the reason behind the reportedly unpaid wages.

In a posting on his microblog on Wednesday, the flamboyant online gaming tycoon said he “solemnly respected and understood” the action by the players on Monday.

Previous reports had said that under a 2007 deal, Zhu’s 28.5 percent stake in Shenhua would to rise to around 70 percent if he invested more than 150 million yuan ($24 million). He has reportedly spent 600 million yuan.

China’s Soccer News newspaper reported Thursday that the dispute was likely to be settled by the end of this year with major shareholders allowing Zhu’s share of the club to increase to above 70 percent.

 Yeah, like a #boss.
